Web Quest: Welcome to Istanbul!


Introduction:
  Istanbul is the only city in the world that lies on two continents, it is a melting pot of many civilizations and different people. Istanbul was announced by the European Union as the 2010 European Capital of Culture.
   And now, pretend that you live in Istanbul and a group of foreign students have arrived there. So, you have to find some entertainment for your new friends, you have to show them some places of interest, and some not well-known but nevertheless beautiful and worth-see places. The given Web Quest is going to lead you to an unforgettable journey.



Task:
   Your first step is to form groups which consist of three or four members. Each member of the group has to search for well-known touristic places of Istanbul. Then, you have to prepare a trip plan (with pictures) for three days. When your research and trip plans are completed, you will have to present your works using the PowerPoint programme. You have only a week for preparing this task. 

Process: 
1. This work is supposed to be a group work, so you will have to make up groups, each one consisting of three or four members.
2. You decide together what tourist attractions of Istanbul you are going to choose. Each group has to select at least five places.
3. You can use some internet resources from the Hotlist.

Evaluation: 
‘5’ (excellent) - Active participation, cooperation and support within the group. All activities are finished and all the members are focused on the task. There are many pictures and information that make the work more attractive. Correct usage of English, rich vocabulary.
‘4’ (good) - Active participation, cooperation and support within the group. Some activities are not finished. There are some pictures. There are some grammar mistakes and misusage of the English language.
‘3’ (average) - Not very active participation, cooperation or support within the group. A few activities are not finished or not all the members are focused on the task. Some grammar mistakes, vocabulary is average.
‘2’ (poor) – Almost no participation, cooperation or support  within the group. Most activities are not finished and the students are not focused on the task. There are no pictures, small amount of information. A lot of mistakes and poor vocabulary

Conclusion:
After all your investigation, we hope you have learned new things about Istanbul. Also, you can benefit from your wide knowledge of touristic places for different purposes in the future.
